I. GENERAL

The AJASA Business Competition (the “competition”) is a business plan competition held in Kyoto Japan at Doshisha University. The competition is organized by a team of students from Doshisha University and AJASA committee members (the “organizers”), with the support of student volunteers. Competing teams will be asked to prepare a business plan under the following brief: 

"Given a budget of $50 000, present a sound business plan promoting relations between

Japan and Africa, which adresses a significant African social issue"

 

1. ELIGIBILITY

An individual is eligible as a participant in a team as long as he or she is currently registered as a student at Doshisha University

 

2. TEAMS

Each team must comprise of a minimum of ONE and maximum of THREE members. Members may come from different faculties within the university. 

 

3. LANGUAGE

All materials and oration must be prepared either in English or Japanese only, though you are free to use sources in any language in your preparation for the competition and pre-selection assignments.

 

4. ATTIRE

Participants are to present themselves in formal business attire. Audience members may dress as they like.

 

II. COMPETITION

1. COMPETITION FEE

Participation in the competition is free of charge. 

 

2. APPLICATION

The application period for the competition closes on November 27th at 23:59 JST. To apply, please have one member of your team email your team name, your team members names, your team members email addresses, and a brief description, of no more than 200 words of the team's slected topic to ajasakyoto@gmail. The member who submits your registration is to be your teams primary point of contact throughout the competition.

 

a. Important dates
November 27th: All teams must submit their brief to ajasakyoto@gmail by 23:59 JST.
 

b. Completion of Application Round
Application submissions will be evaluated and ranked using a standardized evaluation sheet. Once all submissions have been evaluated, the organizers will select up to 5 teams to progress to the final round. Teams will be notified on 30 November 2015 by 23:59 JST. 

 

4. FINAL ROUND - PRESENTATION DAY

The final round of the competition will be held on December 5th, 2015.

 

a. Important dates
December 5th: Presentation Files must be submitted to ajasakyoto@gmail by 07:00. Teams to report for registration by 10:00am at Doshisha University, Imadegawa Campus, Shikokan Building, Room SK110

 

b. Format
Teams are asked to make presentations (in English or Japanese) in front of a panel of 3 to 5 judges. Each team will have 10 minutes to present. The 10 minute limit will be strictly enforced, and time signals will be shown at the 10, 5 and 1 minute mark.

Q&A from the judges will be 5 minutes. In the event that judges do not use the full 5 minute period to ask questions, questions from the audience will be accepted. 

 

c. Case Preparation
Participants are free to use dictionaries, textbooks and the Internet to collect information in order to prepare the final presentation However, participants may not seek any outside help (in person, by phone, email, etc.) from anyone outside of the 3 member team. Teams are expected to use Microsoft Office (or Apple equivalents such as KeyNote) for preparing slides and presentations.

 

d. On Competition Day
Only Windows PCs are provided for use at the competition location. If a team chooses to build their presentation on a Mac, they may bring their own computer and VGA adapter to use on the competition day. There are no limits to the number of slides used in the presentation.

Aside from the primary content teams intend to present, additional exhibits may be prepared and included in the same file at the team’s discretion in anticipation of questions from the judges’ panel.

 

All members must participate in roughly equal parts during the main presentation. Cue cards and personal notes are allowed for use by the teams during their presentations. Q&A responses may be made by whichever member(s) the team deems most fit to respond.

 

Teams must also provide copies of their slides to the judges on the day of the case competition.

 

e. Winner Announcement
Final Presentations will be evaluated and ranked using a standardized evaluation sheet. Once all teams have been evaluated, the organizers will announce the Top 3 ranked teams at the Africa Day Cultural Exchange event, being held on the same day. A prize of ¥50000 will be awarded to the the top scoring team on the day.

 

III. Other

1. Final Day

Teams are asked to report to their presentation room 10 minutes prior to their presentation time. Finalists may watch other Finalists’ presentations during the final round.

 

2. Spectators

Spectators may attend presentations in any division; however, spectators will not be allowed to exit/enter a room partway through a presentation.

 

Faculty advisors are also allowed to attend presentations as they wish. However, in respecting the spirit of the competition, advisors are not allowed to provide feedback to the team(s) they are supervising based upon what they saw/heard. Similar to general spectators, no one is allowed to enter/exit a presentation partway through.

 

3. General

The competition is intended to provide a learning experience for the students that will encourage healthy competition, professionalism and interaction by our future business leaders, both amongst themselves and with the larger business community. The Rules and Guidelines described above are not all encompassing and situations may arise that have not been covered. It is the expectation of the organizers that any issues or disputes will be resolved in the spirit of the competition.

 

 

 

 

ビジネスコンペ総則

 

 

I. 基本事項

AJASAのビジネスコンペティションは、同志社大学で開催される、ビジネスアイデアを競うコンペティションです。当ビジコンは、 参加者である同志社大学の学生チームと、AJASAのメンバー、そして学生ボランティアで運営します。参加者たちは以下の方針に従ってビジネスプランを立てる必要があります。

”50000ドル～100000ドル(約600万円～1200万円）を使って、日本とアフリカの関係の構築を促進するようなビジネスプランを作る事。ただしそのプランは、アフリカへの社会的意義があることとする。”

 

1. 応募資格

同志社大学に在籍する学生で組織された、チームまたは個人であること

 

2. 応募可能人数

1グループ1～3人

 

3. 言語

英語もしくは日本語。参考資料等は何語でも可

 

4. 服装

フォーマルな服装（スーツ等）が望ましい

 

II. コンペティション

2. 出願

出願は11月27日の23:59で完全に締め切ります。申し込む際は、チームのメンバーのうち一人が連絡係となり、AJASAkyoto@gmail.comに、「チーム名」「メンバーの名前」「それぞれのメールアドレス」「アイデアの簡単な紹介（500字以下）」を送ってください。最初に申し込んでくださった方を代表者とみなし、連絡事項は代表者とやりとりさせていただきます。

 

a. 期限

11月27日: すべてのチームは上記申し込みを23:59までに完了する必要があります。

 

b. 書類選考（応募者過多の場合）

応募者が5チーム以上の場合は選考があります。その際に上記申し込み内容の「アイデアの簡単な紹介」を選考の材料とします。この場合は11月30日に、選考結果を各チームにご連絡いたします。

 

3．当日（12月5日）の流れ

 

a. 最終選考（当日プレゼンテーション）

12月5日: プレゼンに使うPPTファイル等は当日の7時までに、AJASAkyoto@gmail.comに必着のこと。またプレゼンするチームは、10時に同志社大学今出川キャンパス志高館のSK110教室に集合してください。

 

b. フォーマット

審査員の前で日本語または英語でプレゼンテーションを行っていただきます。各チームプレゼンテーションの持ち時間は10分です。プレゼンの残り時間が10分、5分、1分の時にお知らせをします。

ジャッジや観覧者からの質疑・応答の時間を5分設けています。

 

c. 準備

辞書や教科書、インターネットを使ってプレゼンテーションの準備をしてください。3人以外の人から教えを乞うのは、原則禁止です。また、Microsoft OfficeのPower Point、もしくはAppleのKeynoteなどを使ってスライドを作って来るのが望ましいです。

 

d. その他の注意

Windowsのパソコンはこちらで準備しますが、Macを使う場合はチームでパソコンを持ってきてください。また接続のためのVGAアダプタも持ってくること。 プレゼンで使うスライドショーの枚数に制限はありません。

プレゼンのメインの内容とは別に、ジャッジや観客からの質問に対応する内容などのファイルを準備しても構いません。

 

チームのメンバーのそれぞれが、プレゼンの中で同じぐらいの分量を担当してください。メモや原稿の持ち込みは可能です。質疑応答の応答は、メンバー内で対応できる方がしていただいて構いません。

 

当日は審査員にスライドの内容をコピーしたものを配布してください。

 

e. 結果発表

審査は審査用のシートで行います。 ビジコン後に開催されるAJASAの文化交流イベントにて、上位3チームが発表されます。50000円の賞金が、最高得点のチームに授与されます。

 

III. その他

1. 文化交流イベントにて

上位３チームは、プレゼンの10分前には全員そろって集まってください。

 

2. 観客の方へ

今回のイベントは誰でも見に来ていただけます。しかし、各チームがプレゼンしている最中に部屋を退出したり入室したりするのはご遠慮ください。

 

3. 一般

このビジネスコンペティションは、学生たちに学びの機会を与え、それぞれがチームの枠を超えて相互に刺激を与え合い、大きなビジネスコミュニティができるきっかけとなることを目指しています。この総則は起こりうる全てのことを網羅してはいませんが、有事の場合はコンペティションの精神に則って判断いたします。
